We're still reading: Patch 2 is on its way
by on 10/23/2026Generals,
Since Patch 1 went live, we haven't stopped reading: reviews on Steam, comments on Discord, Reddit, Bilibili, YouTube and social media, in every language. Thank you to everyone who took the time to tell us what changed for you, and what still isn't working. Patch 2 is almost ready. This week we're sharing it with our beta testers, and if testing goes well, we'll release it next week. Same as last time, we'd rather take a few extra days than ship changes that haven't been properly tested.
What Patch 2 focuses on
These are the main changes we can share today. Patch 2 may also include other changes and fixes that aren't listed here. When it goes live, we'll publish a full changelog with every change, the exact values and the reasoning behind each one, just like we did for Patch 1.
Tower buffs
- Royal Catapult: we're changing its firing animation so it shoots faster and misses less; cheaper skills.
- Knights Order: Honor the Fallen can now stun, and Inspired Protectors grants armor even without a hero nearby.
- Ironbark Treant: Nature's Hand and Gnarly Roots work in both modes; cheaper upgrade to level 4 and cheaper skills; Nature's Hand no longer targets the weakest enemies.
- Wildcat Huntresses: longer range and faster respawn.
- Cursed Crossbows: cheaper skills.
- Sunray Master: Minor Elementals now scales with its level: it summons 1, 2 and 3 elementals at levels 1, 2 and 3.
Why: these are the towers that most of you agree feel the weakest in the game.
Gold in specific stages
- Stage 2: more starting gold, more gold from its waves and one more tower spot.
- Stage 14: the cemetery skeletons now give gold.
- Stage 18: the Magma Elementals that Moloch summons now give gold.
Why: in these stages, for different reasons, the lack of gold is felt more than anywhere else. These changes only affect these stages.
Skill costs
The first level of 16 skills across 11 towers is cheaper. Fully upgrading a tower costs about the same as before. We'll list the affected skills in the final patch notes.
Why: to make getting your towers' skills more accessible.
Stability and bug fixes
Patch 2 also brings bug fixes, and we keep working on stability.
We keep reading
Every comment helps us understand where Genesis works and where it doesn't. We're reading them all with one question in mind: how do we make Kingdom Rush better for everyone, from those who just joined us to those who've been here since 2011. This is another step, not the last one.
See you on the battlefield,
The Ironhide Team
P.S. About stability. We know about an issue with the digital signature of some new DLL files that can stop the game from launching on some PCs. For now, if it happens to you, try again a little later: the files usually get accepted on their own after a while. We plan to fix it in Patch 2 or in a hotfix soon after. If the game crashes or still won't start for you, write to us at [email protected] and tell us about your setup.
